KARACHI, Oct 16 Veteran Gul Hameed from Punjab retained the 55-plus singles title by getting the better of Iltifat Ahmed in the final of 11th Pakistan International Seniors Tennis Championship at Karachi Club on Friday.

Hameed was home 6-3, 6-4 against his opponent to retain the Asghar G. Habib trophy.

Earlier, Iltifat created quite a stir when he shocked top seed Sabih Wali 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 in the semis.

The top two seeds Mohammad Abdul Saeed and Ejaz Sarhadi stormed in the 35-plus singles final registering emphatic victories over their opponents in the pre-finals.

While the former chalked up 6-0, 6-1 victory over Bashir Khan, the latter accounted for Waseem Baran 6-0, 6-0.

Karim Gul Agha booked his place in the 45 plus singles final prevailing over Akber Hayat Khan 6-0, 6-0. He faces the winner of the second semi-final to be played between Altaf Hussain and Tahir Gul.

The curtains fall on the event on Saturday with remaining four finals on card.

45 plus doubles quarter-finals Altaf Hussain and Shahid Hussain walkover Mohammad Tahir and Tariq Khan; Tahir Gul and Shafiullah bt Asfand Yar Minwala and Tariq Aziz 6-0, 6-3.

Semi-finals Altaf Hussain and Shahid Hussain bt Shahid Aziz and Maqsood Ismail 6-2, 6-1.

55 plus doubles semi-final Gulzar Firoz and Mohammed Ali bt Hari Das and Capt. Asad Zaidi 6-3, 6-0.55 plus singles final Gul Hameed bt Iltifat Ahmed 6-3, 6-4.

Saturday's fixtures
