RAWALPINDI Around 55 suspects, including some Afghans nationals, have been arrested during police search operations in Rawalpindi, DawnNews reported.

According to city police officer Rao Mohammad Iqbal, no explosives and weapons were recovered from the suspects.

However, he said the search operations will continue.

Earlier Islamabad police claimed arresting at least 35 workers of the banned Hizbut Tehrir from the city's F-8/3 sector. Workers of the banned outfit were arrested when police conducted a raid on their office in Islamabad.

According to police sources, the members were attending an allegedly anti-state seminar at the time of their arrests.

The arrested workers of the Hizbut Tehrir have been shifted to the Margalla Police Station for further investigations. — DawnNews
