DERA GHAZI KHAN Border Military Police (BMP) and Baloch Levy (a combat force) have enhanced their deployment in the tribal area along the Punjab-NWFP border and started patrolling the border to check militants' infiltration from the NWFP. However, security needs to be beefed up in the settled area along the provincial boundary and Triman checkpoint on Indus Highway even after installation of closed-circuit cameras there.

At Triman checkpoint, the police have no system to check vehicles and people entering Punjab.

The Interior Ministry has directed the district administration to beef up security in areas along the provincial boundary after growing concern of infiltration from NWFP into Dera Ghazi Khan, which is administratively divided into two parts BMP controls the tribal area and Punjab police settled area.

BMP Commandant Tariq Bokhari and District Police Officer Dr Rizwan confirmed consolidation of deployment.
