FAISALABAD, Oct 30 Law Minister Rana Sanaullah says neither he nor any of his relatives has grabbed the property of any trader.

In response to a story captioned 'Trader accuses minister's kin of torture' that Dawn carried on Oct 29, Sana also rejected the charges levelled by trader Idrees Ahmad that his henchmen had subjected the latter to torture in the presence of former's brother-in-law Rana Ijaz.

“I phoned the Factory Area circle deputy superintendent of police and asked him to register a case of the party which would approach the police first; and register a case even against my brother-in-law if he is involved in torturing the trader,” the minister said.

He said Idrees had a rivalry with Yaqoob Rasim and Asif Butt for the last many years, and the two parties had opposed him in his electioneering. He said Idrees had been spewing venom against him and his relatives only to gain media popularity.

He said he and his relatives would face any penalty if they were found guilty of grabbing the property of Idrees. He said the rate of land in Mujahidabad was very low and Idrees was misleading the media.

When asked as to why the case of Idrees had not been registered as yet, the minister said the police had informed him that a case had been registered. However, Idrees told Dawn that his application was still pending with the police.
