PESHAWAR, Nov 17 Provincial Minister for Revenue, Estate and Relief Habibur Rehman Tanoli, a member of independent parliamentary group in NWFP Assembly, on Tuesday resigned from the cabinet paving the way for induction of another member of his group.

Seven pro-PPP independent MPAs have formed a group in the provincial assembly and inked an agreement with the government that its members will be appointed ministers in turns for different durations.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Tanoli announced his resignation and said that Syed Murid Kazim, another senior member of the group, would take charges as minister in a few days.

PPP parliamentary leader Abdul Akbar Khan, leader of the independent group Pervez Khattak, two other members of the group Fazullah and Javed Tarakai were also present on the occasion.

“There are no differences in the group of the independent MPAs rather it is intact, resolving matters with consultations of all members,” Mr Tanoli said.

The copies of his resignation, sent to NWFP Governor Owais Ahmad Ghani, were also distributed among the journalists. “As per verbal decision of the group, being senior most member I was given first chance to become provincial minister for a period of one-third of the total tenure of the assembly,” he said.

he said that he completed his tenure and tendered resignation so that second senior most member of the group Syed Murid Kazim could take oath of the office of the provincial minister.
