RAWALPINDI, Nov 24 Highups of Rawalpindi administration on Tuesday said that the ongoing campaign against highrise and dangerous buildings in Murree would be taken to its logical end without any fear or favour.

Talking to Dawn, Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed and DCO Imdadullah Bosal said that so far 14 huge structures built illegally had been demolished. They refuted that the operation was selective or that the buildings owned by the influential were not being touched.

“Big structures owned by members of the ruling party and influential like Islamabad Country Club, Rehman Apartments, Maragalla Heights, Zenish Apartments, Salman Zaheer Apartments and a building near PIA Park have been demolished partially nor completely,” the commissioner said

He said the operation was aimed at checking further environmental degradation and protecting human lives as, he added, a number of illegal and dangerous buildings had been built in the town over years. —Our Reporter
