ISLAMABAD, Dec 13 The Pakistan People's Party is likely to observe the second death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto in a low-key manner this year because of the poor security situation in the country and the advent of Muharram.

The PPP leadership might refrain from giving a call to party workers to gather at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh at the time of the anniversary, because it would fall very close to the Ashura, a senior party member said on Sunday.

Although President Asif Ali Zardari is planning to visit Garhi Khuda Bakhsh at the time of the anniversary, he may avoid addressing public rallies.

The president's spokesman, Farhatullah Babar, said the party leadership was still chalking out plans for Benazir Bhutto's death anniversary and final decisions were yet to taken. The CEC meeting could either be held after the anniversary or before the start of Muharram, he said.
