KARACHI, Dec 20 International Zoya Khalid who took the followers of the game by storm when she landed her maiden Open crown in the city in October, is billed to retain girls' U-19 title when the main round of second Roshan Khan Junior Open squash championship begins at the PN Roshan-Jahangir Squash Complex on Monday.

With rich experience under her belt, she has been seeded on top in the main round draw. Zoya represented Army in the inaugural edition held last year when she edged past Aliya Sarfraz in the final to win U-19 title. Now she has been employed with the ZTBL.Karachi-based Ayesha Zafar tops girls' U-15 seeding.

With the exception of Ali Bokhari (U-13) and Israr Ahmed (U-11), other three boys namely Farhan Zaman, Waqas Mehboob and Nasir Iqbal will be defending their titles in remaining categories.

According to tournament director, Tahir Khanzada, the prize money has been enhanced from Rs250,000 to Rs300,000. All the outstation players have been provided free accommodation in the adjacent PN Fleet Club. Prize money was given to the qualifying round losers for the first time.

Meanwhile, an encouraging response was witnessed in the qualifying rounds that were held at the venue in five categories of the boys on Sunday. Winners of the qualifying round have qualified for the main draw.

Squash legend Jahangir Khan who is chairman of the organising committee was also present on the occasion.
