Drone kills 5 in Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH, Dec 26 Five people were killed and seven others injured when two missiles fired by a US drone hit a residential compound in Ghulam Khan tehsil of North Waziristan on Saturday.

According to locals, the missiles hit the house of a local tribesman, Asmatullah, in the village of Babar Raghzai in Saidgai at 6.45pm. They said that six spy planes were hovering over the tehsil at the time of the attack.

According to witnesses, the planes kept flying at a very low altitude throughout the day.

AFP adds A security official confirmed the attack and said Asmatullah had links with Taliban militants.
