ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 Educationist and scholar Dr Alya Imam in a stirring appeal to Pakistani womanhood on Thursday asked them to always follow the selfless tradition of Benazir Bhutto.

Dr Imam was speaking at a poetry recitation (Mushaira) arranged by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts in connection with the second death anniversary of the slain PPP leader and the first woman prime minister in the Muslim world.

Poet Shabnam Shakeel presided over the event. Her verse - Us ki yad main aaj bhi dil raushan hai - won great admiration from the participating poets, including Syed Arif, Aisha Masood, Noreen Talat, Dure Shahwar, Asad Baig, Nisar Turabi, Ghazanfar Hashmi, Mahmuda Ghazia, Farkhanda Shamim and Hassan Abbas Raza.

Two lines from Hassan's poetic tribute - Woh Shah Bano khakh mehran wafa ka paigham liye/sufaid malboos pehne rukhsat huiee/ jo deevar jism khakh main girayi gayee hai, also won appreciation from the audience.
