LAHORE, Jan 2 Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Saturday chaired a meeting of the “Supreme Court Building Committee” and issued necessary directions regarding renovation work of the SC principal seat in Islamabad, the Lahore registry and judges' rest house in Murree.

Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz Ahmad and Justice Shakirullah Jan of the SC attended the meeting held in the conference hall of the LHC. The Federal Secretary Finance and the Capital Development Authority chairman were also present.

According to a press release, the consultancy service for the design and construction of renovation work of the historic SC building of the Lahore registry is being conducted by the National Engineering Service Pakistan (Nespak).

The building was constructed in 1890-94 and represents the architecture of the British era. The Nespak has planned to replace the existing reinforced brickwork slabs with reinforced concrete slabs, it added.
