QUETTA The Balochistan National Party (Mengal) organised a demonstration here on Monday in protest against an incident of firing in Khuzdar on Friday and said that the government should resign for its failure to protect lives of citizens.

The demonstrators gathered outside the press club where they were addressed by Sajid Tareen, Agha Hasan Baloch and Javed Baloch. The speakers said that the province was being run by the Frontier Corps.

They accused the PPP-led government of pursuing the anti-Baloch policies of Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf's regime and said that military operation and arrests of political workers were continuing. But, they said, such measures would not force the Baloch people to give up their struggle against “usurpers”.

They rejected the Balochistan package announced by the federal government and said that the Baloch leadership would not be deceived by “so-called packages”, adding that the government should recognise the right of Baloch people on resources of the province.
