KARACHI Naimatullah became the fourth Pakistani pugilist to secure a place in the semi-finals of the 11th South Asian Games boxing event underway at the Mohammad Ali Boxing Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

According to the information received from Dhaka, Pakistani boxer Naimatullah thrashed Mohammad Kabir of Afghanistan in the 54kg category recording a formidable 11-4 win to confirm his presence in the pre-finals.

Meanwhile, local Faisal Mollas outclassed another Pakistani boxer Abid Ali by 11-7 in the 57kg weight category. The sixth Pakistan team member Adnan Hussain also lost his bout to Afghanistans Mohammad Aziz in the 60kg weight category by 13-9.

Earlier, Pakistan's captain Mohammad Waseem pulled a narrow victory against Sri Lankas opponent Dilanka Suresh by 7-6 in the 51kg category.

Other two boxers — Nadir Baloch (48kg) and Amir Khan (64kg) — got byes in the technical draws.—PPI
