ISLAMABAD, Feb 25 Wapda retained the National Women's Volleyball Championship title defeating a spirited Higher Education Commission (HEC) in a three-set final (25-18, 25-18 and 25-20), here at Pakistan Sports Complex on Thursday.

In the crucial encounter, Wapda's athletes, already ahead due to a better average in the championship, started the campaign with rhythm and coordination in the first set of the match.

Wapda's spiking average was better rated against their opponents, HEC.

Successfully using their blocking techniques, Wapda did not give any room to HEC, taking the lead throughout the set, winning the first 25-18.

In the second set, Wapda's ace spikers made some quick points to take the advantage, lifting the second set 25-18.

Wapda dominated the proceedings of the third set. HEC failed to contain a block against their spikers.

Spikers from Wapda — Rabia Malik, Atiya Maqbool, Samina Sehar, Zeenat Parveen and Yasmeen Tabassum were too strong against HEC's counter attack, winning the final set 25-20.

In a classification match, Police had to be content with third place, defeating Islamabad in straight sets of 25-8, 25-5 and 25-10 in the 45 minutes encounter.
