RAWALPINDI, March 3 An anti-terrorism court here on Wednesday dismissed the acquittal plea of a man allegedly involved in the twin suicide attacks on former president Pervez Musharraf on December 25, 2003.
The terrorist attacks on Musharraf were carried out near Janda Chichi where 15 people were killed.
The accused Rana Faqir Hussain through his lawyer Colonel (retired) Mohammad Akram maintained before the court that the case was interrogated, investigated and tried by the military authorities and it could not be retried in a civilian court. The accused said once the jurisdiction was taken over by the army it could not be reinvestigated by police and retried by a civilian court as a military court had already convicted several men and acquitted few persons in the case and had completed their investigations in the case.—Our Reporter
