KARACHI, March 3 Asjad Iqbal, last year's national junior champion and qualifier from Punjab, sent shock waves when he came from behind to beat sixth seed Sohail Shehzad of Sindh in the 35th National Snooker Championship at the Karachi Gymkhana on Wednesday.

Asjad twice recovered from down to inflict a 67-16, 31-86, 46-77, 68-51, 42-78, 60-20, 62-57 defeat on the seasoned opponent.

Sindh's Mohammad Ishtiaq stunned province-mate and 10th seed Vishan Gir 4-0 the scores being 66-26, 69-56, 66-41, 54-43.

Top seed Mohammad Sajjad conceded two frames on the way while registering a 4-2 victory over Yasir Shehzad of NWFP. He won the battle 22-77, 90-18, 62-14, 64-20, 35-51, 67-33.
