KOHAT Two people including a woman were killed as security forces opened firing at a vehicle which bypassed a signal on Darra Adam Khel-Bara link road during search operation, officials said.

Five security personnel were injured in an ambush at the huge army facility by militants in Akhorwal area in frontier region of Kohat on late Wednesday night.

Officials said that the militants launched major attack with rockets, mortars and automatic weapons at the Akhorwal camp in Darra Adam Khel in which five security men Lance Naik, Eid Muhammad Khan, Burhan ud Din, Ghulam Hassan, Nasir and Shoeb were injured.

They were shifted to a military hospital in Kohat for treatment.

The army, while repulsing the attack, killed six members of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan who were taken away by the militants towards Khyber Agency, officials claimed.

During a search operation conducted after the attack during curfew in the area, security forces opened firing at a coaster on Darra Adam Khel-Bara link road as a result two passengers including a woman were killed on Thursday.

It was said that the security personnel signaled the vehicle to stop but when it kept moving they opened firing at it.

The woman identified as Ms (S), resident of Parachinar and Said Khan, resident of Charsadda district were killed. Their dead bodies were sent to Peshawar.

The security forces seized 25 mortars, 20 rockets, three might vision goggles and dozens hundreds of cartridges during the search operation.

The traffic on the Indus Highway between Kohat and Peshawar remained suspended for four hours during the operation.
