Nishtar Club clinch basketball tie

KARACHI, March 25 Host Nishtar Club chalked up 27-25 victory over Gulshan Club in the opening match of Ustad Rehman memorial basketball tournament which commenced at the formers court on Thursday.

Both teams adopted defensive strategy as no player could score in double figures in the low scoring match.

Mohammad Haroon and Mohammad Shabbar scored nine and six points apiece for winners while Mohsin and Shahid contributed six and five respectively for losers.

Eight teams are taking part in the contest which is being played on league-cum-knockout basis.

The second match between Bounce Club and Neighbourhood Club was in progress at the time of filing this report.

Friday's fixtures

Habib Bank v Arambagh Club at 6.30pm; KESC v Malir Club at 7.30pm. — Sports Correspondent
