QUETTA, March 30 Balochistan Assembly Speaker Aslam Bhootani has said that every individual should play his role in resolving people's problems instead of expecting everything to be done by the government.
Addressing a seminar on “Issues affecting the lives of poor citizens of Quetta” on Tuesday, he said there were a lot of problems that were affecting the daily life of people.
The seminar was organised by the Eminent Citizen Forum in collaboration with IDO and Concern Pakistan.
Minister for Revenue Zmarak Khan Achakzai, Quetta division commissioner Naseem Lahri, ECF chairman Brig (retd) Abdur Razzak Baloch, Aurangzeb Mir and Rahim Kakar spoke on the occasion.
Mr Bhootani said that maintaining law and order and providing education and health facilities to every citizen were the government's responsibilities and it was trying its level best to do the job.
However, he added, the government cannot resolve problems of the past 63 years overnight.
He said the province was facing a shortage of water and the government had planned 80 small and 30 big dams to resolve the issue.
He expressed the hope that Balochistan would meet its wheat requirements after the construction of these dams.
The revenue minister urged separatist elements to come to the negotiation table instead of fighting against the government forces.
