QUETTA Twelve wagons of a Chaman-bound goods train derailed near the Khojak Pass on Tuesday, suspending rail traffic between Quetta and the border town.
Railway officials said that the train carrying cement, ghee and tea met with the accident because of 'overshooting'.
They said twelve wagons were damaged.
Army personnel and railway officials launched the rescue work. A train equipped with machinery was sent to the site to clear the track and it was expected that the train service would be restored on Wednesday.
Pakistan Railways' divisional engineer Mohammad Imran said the train had derailed because of overshooting.
