LAHORE Sara Mahboob of Islamabad proved herself as the top player in the country yet again by defeating Saba Aziz of Lahore in straight sets in the final of the ladies' singles title of the All-Pakistan Tennis Championship played at the Model Town Club courts on Saturday.

Sara won 6-4 and 7-5, spending just 40 minutes on the court in a tight but fast-paced game.

After winning the toss Sara elected to serve and held the first game with ease. Both players kept their serves to be tied four games all before Sara found her rhythm to take the first set. 

The 19-year-old experienced a few jitters in the second set but came from two games down to win the match 7-5.

  
In the men's singles semi-finals, top seed Aqeel Khan and his brother Jalil Khan reached the final.

Aqeel faced no difficulty in beating Waqas Malik in the first semi dispatching the latter 6-4, 6-0.


Jalil toppled his younger brother Yasir 6-2, 6-2 to win the second semi-final.
