KARACHI, April 5 The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) won their respective matches while Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Army played a draw in the 57th National Hockey Championship at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Monday.

The NBP gave Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) a 9-5 thrashing after being 2-2 at halftime. Mohammad Atiq (second, 42nd and 55th mins) and Akhtar Ali (46th, 60th and 64th mins) got a hat-trick each while Haseem Khan (12th min), Mohammad Taufeeq (47th min) and Naeem Akhtar (60th min) completed the winners' tally.

Amir Ashiq (30th and 69th mins) and Irfan Khan (39th and 61st mins) scored two goals each after Mohammad Aleem Bilal (17th min) scored the first goal for KESC.

The second match between SSGC and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was won by the former 5-1.

PAF scored first when Imran Hafeez converted a penalty stroke in the 10th minute. But SSGC equalized and easily moved ahead. Sajid (19th min), Ishtiaq Mubeen (34th min) and Shakeel Abbasi (44th min) scored one each while Shabbir Ahmed Khan (52nd and 62nd mins) added two for the winners. PIA and Army played a 1-1 draw. Mohammad Irfan scored for PIA in the 12th minute and Kashif Ali restored parity by converting a penalty-corner in the 47th minute.
