FAISALABAD, April 16 The hockey Olympians continued with their demand for the removal of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President Qasim Zia and Secretary Asif Bajwa.

More than a dozen former Olympians including Islahuddin Siddiqui, Shahnaz Sheikh, Tahir Zaman, Khizer Nawaz Bajwa, Tariq Imran, Zaka Ashraf, Qamar Ibrahim, Naveed Alam, Qamar Zia and Rao Saleem Nazim gathered at a local hotel in Faisalabad, on Friday to pass a resolution demanding of the PHF president and secretary to tender their resignations immediately.

Olympian Tahir Zaman said that the top brass had been involved in selecting their favourites while violating the selection process. He also alleged that no attention was given to the promotion of hockey at the school and college levels which resulted in the collapse of hockey at the national and international levels.

As the meeting was in progress, a group of people claiming to be hockey enthusiasts assembled in front of the hotel and staged a protest of their own while blocking the road near the General bus stand. They also held Islah and Shahbaz Senior responsible for the World Cup debacle as they pointed out that both were members of the Executive Board at the time of the national team's selection for the World Cup.

The demonstrators also condemned the unnecessary targeting of PHF Secretary Asif Bajwa.
