GILGIT, April 22 Two people were killed while two others sustained bullet injuries when two dacoits tried to loot at gunpoint inmates of an apartment situated nearby General Post Office Gilgit on Thursday evening, city police officials said.

SHO Sher Khan said two dacoits entered a residential quarter and tried to rob the inmates, who put up resistance at which the robbers opened fire killing Rehmat Dar, a resident of Yasin valley.

The SHO added that the other people living in the quarter meanwhile managed to snatch pistols from the dacoits and retaliated, killing dacoit Athar Kamal alias Raju and wounding his companion.

An inmate of the apartment was also wounded in the firing.
