THATTA, Aug 19: The Thatta PPP session winded up undecided on three seats following chaos on Monday.

It had been convened to finalize the names of candidates for party tickets for two National Assembly and five Sindh Assembly seats of the district.

The session, which was chaired by Dr Abdul Wahid Soomro, lasted for about six hours.

It criticized the nomination of Mohammad Qasim Memon, son of former MNA Wadero Ahmed Memon, former MNA Usman Jalbani, and Ms Sassui Palejo, daughter of former MPA Ghulam Qadir Palejo, for allotment of party tickets to contest respectively from the constituencies of PS-86 Sujawal, PS-84 Ghorabari Keti Bunder, and PS-85 Mirpur Sakro.

Dr Dildar Khaskheli, Nazim Union Council Mirpur Sakro, who is an aspirant for a party ticket to contest from PS-85 Sakro, said the party should not oversight the sacrifices of its activists and evolve trends and traditions of justice within its ranks.

He claimed that former MPA Ghulam Qadir Palejo strategically sidelined himself from the party’s activities at a crucial hour and was now pitching his daughter, Sassui, who would yield no results in the elections.

Dr Qadir Bux, vice president, PPP, an aspirant for PS-86 Sujawal, said that Wadero Ahmed Memon was a new party entrant and was entrusting a party ticket to his son, Qasim, for PS-86 Sujawal, which would prove fatal for the party’s interests.

Sentimental party activists rose on their seats on learning about the nomination of a new entrant, Haji Usman Jalbani, for PS-84 Ghorabari Keti Bunder. They vehemently objected his nomination for a party ticket.

Rafique Mustafa, an industrialist son of former federal minister Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah, who is also an aspirant of a party ticket from Sujawal, lamenting on the allotment of tickets to comparatively unknown activists said he always remained in constant touch with the district party heads and never deserted them but now he too was being ignored by the party.

A heated debate would have gone out of hands had former MNA Wazir Memon and member Sindh Council Abdul Sattar Lohar not intervened and announced the formation of a committee, to be headed by Dr Wahid Soomro, to decide the fate of controversial candidates after consulting the provincial head of the party, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro.

The session, however, expressed its unanimity on the nomination of Wazir Memon and Dr Wahid Soomro on two National Assembly seats and Babu Ghulam Hussain and Iqbal Chandio on two provincial seats.
