KARACHI, May 1 The provincial Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, has singled out basketball as a sport in which the nation could excel in the region.

“It's time we should focus on it in view of advantage of height and physique in the country,” he told a select gathering at the closing ceremony of three-day basketball Technical Officials and Coaches course at the Jinnah University College (JUC) on Saturday.

The official said he was impressed to see FIBA qualified coach Gary W. White imparting coaching to a good number of future technical officials and coaches.Paying compliments to organisers, he said by staging such courses they are sowing a seed which will reap fruitful results in the days to come.

Earlier, secretary of the Sindh Amateur Basketball Association, former international Abdul Nasir, welcomed the guest and threw light on the activities.

The secretary later distributed the certificates to the participants of the course.
