KARACHI, May 7 An Under-12 hockey tournament with an aim to prepare players at the grassroots-level will get underway at the Olympian Iftikhar Syed Academy in Gulshan-i-Iqbal from May 15.

The event featuring eight teams with 10 players each will be played on a league basis under floodlights on the newly-laid Desso turf.

“In order to prepare and train the boys we will also award the teams with 10 hit, 10 push and 10 slap shots to score a goal from 20 yards against the empty goal post.

The event, being organised on the request of the Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) President Wasay Jalil, concludes on May 25.—Agencies
