MIRAMSHAH, May 11 Fourteen people were killed and 16 others injured when US drones fired a barrage of missiles on a militants' compound in Enzer Kass area of North Waziristan on Tuesday morning.
Local people said that six drones flying over the area near the Afghan border fired a dozen missiles at positions in mountains at about 6am.
Reuters news agency quoted an intelligence official in the region as saying that three missiles hit a vehicle and three militants in it were killed.
The drones then fired a barrage of missiles at what is believed to be a militant camp, killing at least another 11.
It is one of the areas where members of an Afghan Taliban faction led by Gul Bahadur operate along with foreign fighters linked to Al Qaeda.
Officials said the bodies and the injured had been retrieved from the camp, adding that five of the injured were in serious condition.
Political authorities had earlier imposed a curfew from Datakhel to Paikhel to facilitate movement of army convoys.
Meanwhile, the area of Enzer Kass is reported to have been cordoned off by militants.
Local people said that some men had procured coffins in Miramshah and transported them to Enzer Kass.
The bodies and the injured have been removed.
Sources said that all the dead and injured were local tribesmen.
This was the second attack in Enzer Kass area in 24 hours.
