Dadu Canal breach widens

DADU, Aug 21: The breach in the Dadu Canal at RD-497 has widened from 200 to 250ft on Wednesday as a result of which more huts have been inundated in Mohammad Chandio, Jhando Chandio, and Sobho Chandio villages and 1,000 acres of crops destroyed.

A small boy and a number of cattle have gone missing due to water gushing from the breach, while 10 huts have been washed away in Khair Mohammad Chandio and Jhando Chandio villages.

At least a 1,000 acres of agricultural land including paddy and cotton crops have also been flooded. A villager, Mithal Chandio, said that four schools had been inundated.
