Same old faces in Sargodha

SARGODHA, Aug 24: A majority of old faces in the district filed nomination papers on Saturday.

Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema, five-time MNA since 1985 partyless polls, filed papers from NA-67 and NA-68. He is in strong position to win the seats.

Ex-MNA Ghias Mehmood Mela is in run for NA-65 from the PML-QA platform.

Mian Manazir Ali Ranjha, former Punjab Assembly speaker, former provincial minister Chaudhry Aamer Sultan Cheema, former MPA and caretaker provincial minister Muhammad Khan Jaspal, ex-MPA Mian Mazhar Ahmed Qureshi, district Naib Nazim and ex-MPA Mian Munir Ahmed Qureshi, Sargodha zila council’s ex-chairperson Mrs Tanzeela Aamer Cheema and former tehsil nazim Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi and former mayor Chaudhry Hamid Hameed are also vying for NA 67 and 66, respectively.

Chaudhry Nazeer Ahmad Ranjha, former ZC chairman, filed his nomination papers from NA-65 and PP-31 and 32.

Chaudhry Nazeer Ahmed Ranjha is facing corruption cases while Chaudhry Hamid Hameed is also involved in a corruption case. The latter was recently released by the Lahore High Court. His father Chaudhry Abdul Hameed is also under NAB probe.
