ISLAMABAD, June 17 Top seed Heera Ashiq reached the next round of Sub-e-Nau National Tennis Championship played at the PTF Complex here on Thursday.

Heera defeated his opponent in straight sets of 6-0, 6-0.

Earlier in the day, eight players — Ayaza Qazi, Hasan Ahmed, Abdul Basit, Hamza Bin Asif, Syed Wasif Kaleem, Ameer Shuja, Zaid Mujahid and Ali Shahzaib — also moved into the next round.

The others who moved ahead in the same category include Faizan Khurram, Kashan-ul-Haq and Mohammad Abid.

In U-14 category, Numayal Ali, Syed Samir Hussain, Saad Tariq, Mamoon and Uzair Ahmed reached the next round after defeating their respective opponents.

In the girls' singles fixtures being played on a round robin league basis, Ushna Sohail hammered Nazia Batool 6-0, 6-0. In the day's second fixture Mehaq Khokhar defeated Shahida Farooq 6-0, 6-2.
