SUKKUR, June 22 Scores of people protested against the Sindh government's bias in ignoring development requirements of Sukkur in the provincial budget 2010-11.

The rally, taken out on Monday evening, was called by the All Parties Conference and largely attended by workers of political, religious and nationalist parties, and social organisations.

Protesters carrying placards and banners took out the rally from Teer Chowk and after marching on city streets reached the Clock Tower where a sit-in was staged, suspending traffic for a pretty long time.

Rally leaders, including Iqbal Memon and Dr Saeed Awan berated at the provincial government for allocating major budgetary funds to Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana while totally depriving Sukkur of its right share.

The so-called champions of democracy like the MNAs, MPAs and Senators were mum over it, just to secure their personal interests, they said.

Recently, people of Shikarpur district highlighted the absence of parliamentarians from their constituencies by taking out a procession and similar situation was persisting here because those elected from Sukkur feel more comfortable in spending time in Karachi or Islamabad, while their voters face most horrific civic conditions here, they said.

Funds for Karachi, Hyderabad and Larkana were allocated on political grounds while totally ignoring Sukkur, they said.

They announced to publish a white paper on behalf of the people of Sukkur in which negative performance and lack of responsibility of lawmakers would be highlighted to aware voters for future elections.
