PML-F man elected unopposed

Published July 21, 2010

SANGHAR, July 20 Pakistan Muslim League-F candidate Haji Khuda Bux Rajar was declared elected unopposed in the by-elections on National Assembly seat NA-235 (Khipro-Jam Nawaz Ali) on Tuesday.

About 23 candidates had filed nomination papers for the seat which had fallen vacant after the degree of MNA Ghulam Dastagir Rajar was found to be fake. July 20 was the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers.

Aspirants to the NA seat belonging to the Pakistan People's Party, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam and Muttahida Qaumi Movement and independent candidates had withdrawn their candidature earlier. Only PML-N candidate Shahid Khan Nizamani had vowed to contest the August 8 by-elections against Mr Rajar.

However, on Tuesday, Mr Nizamani withdrew his candidature in support of Mr Rajar.

The district election officer declared Mr Rajar as elected unopposed but a notification will be issued by the Election Commission.
