CHARSADDA, Aug 28: Charsadda District Nazim Naseer Mohammad Khan Wednesday asked the people to elect competent and sincere people as their representatives in the election.

Addressing a gathering here, he said the district government was determined to make Charsadda a model town. He was confident that by the end of the government’s tenure, most of the developmental work would have been completed.

He said the district government was spending more than Rs360 million on key projects in the district, including those related to the health, education and communication sectors.

He said the new district government system had taken powers from the unelected civil servants and put them in the hands of the peoples’ representatives. He called for strengthening the system which he said was in the interest of the poor.

He said again it was election time and the people must elect competent and educated representatives because these people would make legislation for the country and shape the destiny of the nation.

Earlier, the district Nazim was briefed on the Sur Mills Road repairing project and told that it had cost Rs0.9 million. The road’s length was 6.3 kilometres.
