LAHORE, Aug 28: The Labour Party Pakistan on Wednesday held a protest demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club against “state violence” on tenants of Okara military farms and illegal arrest of tenants’ leader Anwar Javed Dogar.

LPP general secretary Farooq Tariq told the participants that he had attended the funeral service of Salman Masih and tenants told him there that no one had signed any so-called package and claims of the Rangers authorities in this regard were false.

Warning the government of a country-wide protest if any harm was done to Mr Dogar, he said police had arrested him from the shop of Dr Sabir Shaheen in Okara in the presence of several eyewitnesses.

About allotting the tenants state land in Dera Ghazi Khan, he said the local tenants had more right over the land.

The demonstrators were also addressed by Mrs Dogar, Shazia Khan of the ASR and Women Workers Helpline chairperson Azra Shad.
