KARACHI Sindh's Minister for Sports and the Sindh Olympic Association (SOA) President Dr Mohammad Ali Shah has said that he will be arranging foreign tours for Sindh football and table tennis teams to feature in events abroad.

“I will be sending the Sindh football team to Libya in December. It will provide them with good exposure as that country is far ahead of us in the sport,” he told Dawn on Sunday.

Elaborating about the tour, he said that he was able to arrange it through his close friendship with Jamil Ahmed Khan, Pakistans ambassador to Libya.

“The team's stay there will be taken care of. We only have to provide them tickets. The rest will be handled by the hosts,” he added.

“Besides this, I am also making arrangements to send our provincial table tennis team to Sri Lanka,” he provided, saying that he wanted to see the funds coming to the association properly utilised.

“Though Chief Minister [Syed Qaim Ali Shah] could not arrange Rs10 million which we had initially asked for, I will see to it that even Rs4 million which we received are used for the good of the sports and sportspersons of the province,” he said, adding that he would also like the SOA to have a proper office.
