ISLAMABAD, Aug 31: Information Minister Nisar Memon has accused former prime minister Benazir Bhutto of weakening the federation by saying that there is a difference between Lahore and Larkana.
“Ms Bhutto should avoid using Sindh card by wrongly saying that the government is doing any undue favour to any politician of the Punjab province”, he said, speaking at a news conference here on Saturday.
The minister made it clear that the government had nothing to do with the rejection of Ms Bhutto’s nomination papers or the acceptance of those of Nawaz Sharif’s.
He said the election commission and the returning officers were dealing with the nomination papers, which could be challenged by the people in higher courts.
“Ms Bhutto is hurting the security of the country by spreading dangerous trends,” he said, warning that the chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party would be responsible if anything went wrong against the federation.
“If today she is using Sindh card, tomorrow people will be using Punjab card, NWFP card and Balochistan card, therefore, I would urge her not to encourage these dangerous trends,” the minister said.
