ABBOTTABAD, Aug 31: Girls snatched 16 positions out of top 20 in the Intermediate examination of Board of Secondary Education Abbottabad. The top three positions were grabbed by the students of Pakistan International Public School and College, Abbottabad.

A total of 12,823 students appeared in the exams, of whom 5,555 were declared pass. The pass percentage stood at 43.32.

The result was announced by the Secretary and Controller of Examination at a press conference on Friday.

Hajra Rasheed, Roll No 18784 of PIPS, stood first by securing 933 marks while student of the same college, Tayyaba Tariq, Roll No 18788, grabbed second position by securing 922 marks. Nourin Hameed, Roll No 18928, of Telecom Girls Public School, Haripur, shared with her the second position by also securing 922 marks.

Hafsa Farid, Roll No 20085 of PIPS, clinched the third position by scoring 909 marks.

In the pre-medical group, all the top three positions were collected by students of Scout Cadet College, Batrasi. Muhammad Siddique Kakar, with 907 marks, won the first position, Adil Ayub with 887 marks, the second position, and Syed Farassat Ali Shah, with 876 marks, the third.

In the pre-engineering group, Hafsa Farid of PIPS, with 909 marks, got first position, Saman Razzaq and Isma Yaqoob of Jinnah Jamia Public School, Haripur, with 888 and 854 marks, respectively, stood second and third.

In the pre-engineering group (Male), Adil Sultan of PIPS (Boys), with 901 marks, stood first, Ali Raza of Cadet College, Batarasi, with 893 marks, came second, and Rizwan Mumtaz of Government College No 1, Abbottabad, with 889 marks, came third.

In the general science (female group), Naila Jabeen of Hazara Public School, Haripur, with 900 marks, secured first position, Ayesha Ali of PIPS, Abbottabad, with 852 marks, grabbed second position and Bibi Nzish Mehreen, of Jinnah Jamia Public Haripur, with 816 marks, clinched the third position.

In the general science (male group), Khalid Mehmood of Al-Quran Beacon Public School, Mansehra, with 857 marks, stood first, Zeshan Aslam of Hazara Public School, Haripur, with 855 marks, came second, and Shahid Khalid of Hazara Public School, Haripur, with 815 marks, stood third.

In the humanities group (female), Sidra Irshad of Govt College Haripur, grabbed first position by securing 782 marks, Abida Sultan of Govt Girls Higher School, Baffa, won second position with 777 marks, and Raheela Anjum of Govt Girls College, Haripur, secured third position with 771 marks.

In the male category, Imran Khan of GHS Tarblea Township, with 723 marks, got first position, Ishtiral Hussain of Govt College Gahzi, with 709 marks, came second and Shamas-ur-Rehamn of Government College, Battagram, with 708 marks stood third.

A total of 582 cases were registered of students using unfair means, of whom 579 were punished.
