LARKANA: Three papers rejected

Published September 3, 2002

LARKANA, Sept 2: The PPP, Larkana, received another setback on Monday when the election officials rejected the nomination papers of three party heavywights of the district, Shabbir Chandio, NA-206 (Larkana-III); Amir Magsi, NA-207 (Larkana-IV); and Shafqat Unnar, PS-41 (Larkana-VII).

The nominations of the three PPP candidates were rejected on the same grounds that their educational degrees did not correspond to the standard set by the University Grants Commission.

Chandio’s lawyers failed to convince the returning officer, Indriyas Barkat, that the PPP leader’s degrees of Shahadatul Alia and Shahadatul Almia , issued by a madressa, Aljamiatul Arabia Albakhsia, Naudero, were equal to BA and MA degrees.

Meanwhile, the nomination papers of the following candidate were accepted by the concerned ROs.

NA-205 (Larkana-II): Allah Bakhsh Unnar (PML-Q).

PS-38(Larkana-IV): Munwar Abbasi(PPP), Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro(JUI), Sarfaraz Isran (PML-Q) and Dr Sikandar Jatoi (PPP-SB).—Correspondent
