LAHORE The selection committee of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, headed by Hanif Khan, announced 19 players for the European tour on Tuesday.

The names of the players were finalised after one-day trials in Abbottabad, where the training camp of the national side was in progress.

The tour was earlier declared as part of the camp ahead of Commonwealth and Asian Games, but after severe criticism from former players, including Shahnaz Sheikh, the PHF decided to play seven matches against various European teams rather than holding the camp there.

The PHF, however, refrained itself from mentioning the sides who the green-shirts will face.

One match will also be played against Holland to raise funds for flood-affected people in Pakistan.

The tour will continue from Sept 1 to 20. Goalkeeper Salman Akbar is not included in the squad.

Players

Imran Shah, Zeeshan Ashraf, Mohammad Imran, Kashif Javed, Waseem Ahmad, Mohammad Rashid, Waqas Sharif, Rehan Butt, Shakeel Abbasi, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Tauseeq, Mohammad Omer Bhutta, Shafqat Rasool, Abdul Haseem Khan, Fareed Ahmad, Mohammad Zubair, Waqas Akbar and Imran Butt.
