ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) is yet to confirm whether football team will be included in the Pakistan contingent being selected for this year’s Asian Games in China.

When approached, Secretary PFF, Col. (r) Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, said he would be in a position by Friday to confirm or deny the media reports over the inclusion of football in the Asian Games contingent.

“I can’t yet say with confidence whether football is being included in the Pakistan contingent,” Lodhi said. “But the PFF will announce a final decision on Friday.”

According to media reports, the PFF has offered to bear expenses on its own for sending the football team to the Games.

When contacted separately for his comments, Maj. (R) Mohammad Afzal, Treasurer Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), told newsmen he was not aware of any such offer but added that the date for submitting the entries for the games had already expired.

The POA has selected ten disciplines for Pakistan in the Games which are snooker, boxing, cricket, hockey, kabaddi, sailing, squash, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.—APP
