“I can't yet say with confidence whether football is being included in the Pakistan contingent,” Lodhi said. “But the PFF will announce a final decision on Friday.”
According to media reports, the PFF has offered to bear expenses on its own for sending the football team to the Games.
When contacted separately for his comments, Maj. (R) Mohammad Afzal, Treasurer Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), told newsmen he was not aware of any such offer but added that the date for submitting the entries for the games had already expired.
The POA has selected ten disciplines for Pakistan in the Games which are snooker, boxing, cricket, hockey, kabaddi, sailing, squash, weightlifting, wrestling and wushu.—APP
