ABBOTTABAD, Sept 7: Prof Mohammad Ibrahim, provincial Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, has accused the government of supporting what he called the king’s party and harassing their opponents.
Speaking at a press conference here at press club on Saturday, he said the government was creating hurdles for the political parties who had launched a mass contact campaign. He said this was being done to bring a government of their like-minded people.
The JI leader levelled claimed that the government was making pre-poll rigging and said there had been countless examples where attempts were being made to bring results of their own choice.
He said appointment of retired chief justice of supreme court as chief election commissioner was a proof of this plan.
He also condemned the attack on Iraq by the US forces, which he declared, an open act of terrorism. He said US was killing hundreds and thousands of innocent people. He asked Gen Pervez Musharraf to openly condemn the US attack on Iraq and close the FBI offices in Pakistan.
He said seat-to-seat adjustments with other political parties was in final stage and it would be finalized in the interest of the country.
DECLAMATION: A two-day All Pakistan Declamation Contest ended at Army Burn Hall College in which 23 teams from different educational institutions from all over the country took part.
Sadiq Public School of Bahawalpur won the championship trophy. Commandant of Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, Maj Gen Hamid Rab Nawaz, have away the prizes.
In individual Urdu contest, Jawad Mazhar of PAF Academy got firs prize, Ali Raza of Agha Khan Medical College got second prize and Gohar Iqbal of FC College, Lahore won third prize.
In English, Ali Abbas Rizvi got first prize, Hashim Riaz of Lawrence College, Ghora Gali got second prize and Cadet Asim of PAF Academy got third prize. Special prizes were given to Sardar Zakariya of Agha Khan Medical College, Umer Farooq of Sadiq Public School, Bahawalpur and Ali Iftikhar of Scout Cadet College Battrasi.
