LAHORE, Sept 13: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) will be issuing ownership documents of plots in its six housing schemes on papers containing special security features.
The step had been taken to address complaints like fake transfer letters and more than one claimant to a piece of property, an official said on Monday.
Estimated to last for more than a century, the security paper contained features like barcode, MCS fiber paper, manufacturing watermark with hologram and 3D images, making it safe against counterfeits.
“Only the government printing press prepares and uses such paper and it is almost impossible for anyone to reproduce it. Some 13 different documents determine ownership of a plot in LDA schemes and all such documents and their office copies would now be issued on this security paper to check counterfeits at all levels,” said the official.
“The facility is available at the LDA offices at its Johar Town Complex that deal with matters pertaining to Allama Iqbal Town, Faisal Town, Model Town Extension, Johar Town, Jubilee Town and Avenue-I, besides private housing schemes in Lahore. “Plans are under way to introduce the same facility at the Court Street LDA offices that deal with Sabzazaar, Gulshan-i-Ravi and Tajpura housing schemes of the authority,” the official added. —Zaheer Mahmood Siddiqui
