BADIN, Sept 14 The process of registration of flood survivors has begun here from Eid day and so far only 38 Watan Cards are issued and handed over to flood victims. Only nine of them have received Rs20,000 from a bank.

Flood victims Khamiso, Hussain Bux and Babar, presently living in Golarchi's Public School relief camp, told Dawn that they were kept on assurance by the bank officials for payment since morning and now it was 330pm and they were asked to come tomorrow.

When manager of the local bank, Suleman was asked about the slow pace of encashment process, he said some of the Watan Cards needed re-verification.

Meanwhile, flood survivors living in the relief camps of Golarchi taluka have refused to shift to other sites despite efforts by the officials.

Noor Mohammad and Saleh, the two IDPs, said “We are prepared to leave the camps for our homes and are only waiting for Watan Cards.”
