Sialkot tragedy: an appeal

Published September 17, 2010

AUGUST 16 was a dark day in the history of Pakistan when two brothers, Hafiz Mughees, 17, and Muneeb, 15, were brutally murdered before a crowd of silent spectators.

At least 14 police officers reportedly witnessed the tragedy but didn't bother to protect the boys.

Such a callous attitude of the police has proved how corrupt, lazy and coward our police force is.

Every person, every face is fully recognisable in the footage received by the media. Then why have the culprits not been caught?

If some have been caught, then why is the Supreme Court demanding a further autopsy while their parents are refusing to have the bodies of innocent boys further agonised?

Please stop further autopsy. The poor parents should not be put through more pain and agony.

All those involved in this cruel act must be punished in the strictest manner possible so that no one ever dares to do this sort of brutality again.
