SWABI, Sept 29: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) on Wednesday staged a protest demonstration here against the conviction of Dr Aafia Siddiqui by a Ucourt and the US interference in Pakistan's internal affairs.

The PTI activists, led by its provincial and district leaders, gathered at Topi tehsil bazaar and marched through the main markets, chanting slogans against the US leaders and its judicial system.

Speaking to the protesters at Topi general bus stand, the local PTI leaders also came down hard on the Pakistani leaders for their blind support to the US policies. They alleged that Washington had been using Islamabad as a tool for implementing its global agenda.

They condemned the American court verdict against Dr Aafia as unjustified and called for its reversal.

They said that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman should tender his resignation after Dr Aafia's conviction because he was a part of the incumbent government which failed to get her released.

Dog bites a dozen people: Locals killed a mad dog on Wednesday after it bit about a dozen people, including four children, near the Topi police station here.

Police officials said that one of the children was seriously injured and taken to a hospital in Peshawar. They said that the children were playing in a ground when the dog attacked them.

The dog was killed following announcements were made on loudspeakers, appealing people to be careful and protect their children.

Suicide case: Driver of former provincial minister Zain Muhammad committed suicide by taking poisonous tablets here on Wednesday, police said.

They claimed that Saifur Rehman, driver of the ANP leader, was ill for the last few months and in frustration he consumed poisonous tablets to end his life.
