ISLAMABAD, Sept 30: The ministerial committee of the cabinet formed to examine the issues concerning the Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) of PTCL with Etisalat and the auction of 3G Spectrum, and Long Distance International (LDI) licenses, completed its deliberations here on Thursday.

Sources in the Privatisation Commission said that a report will soon be submitted to the cabinet, which will take a final decision on resolving financial issues with Etisalat and the auction of 3G Spectrum and LDI licenses.

The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to the issuance of LDI license to CM Pakistan, auction of 3G Spectrum and directed the ministry of information technology to take necessary steps as per prevailing provisions of the procedure in an open and transparent manner.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Privatisation Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan and was attended by Interior Minister Rahman Malik and Adviser to the Prime Minister Senator Latif Khosa in addition to officials of the ministry of finance and the PC.

A presentation was made to the committee regarding the contractual obligations and the efforts made so far to amicably resolve the outstanding $800 million proceeds and the PTCL property issues.

The committee underlined the need to take a coherent approach keeping in view the legal position for the transfer of shares to close the transaction to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
