KARACHI, Sept 30: Two-time national champion Mohammad Sajjad conjured up two successive victories to take his winning tally to four in six games in the Snooker Cup at Karachi Club on Thursday.

The Asian championship runner-up survived a scare when he struggled to beat Mohammad Javed 4-3 (70-10, 67-49, 33-62, 35-58, 79-59, 53-60, 74-16) in the first match of the day and accounted for Imran Qamar 4-2 (105-7, 50-46, 60-68, 1-87, 76-0, 53-0) to end on a winning note.

Sajjad is slated to meet third seed Mohammad Asif Toba in the last group B match on Friday at 12noon.

Toba, together with Shahram Changezi, enjoys an edge over Sajjad with five wins and a defeat apiece in six fixtures.

Sindh’s Sohail Shehzad is almost certain to earn a place into the last four from group A with five wins and a defeat under his belt.

Top seed Asjad Iqbal, meanwhile, continued his dismal run winning one and losing one match on Thursday.

The semi-final line-up will, however, become clear after the completion of league matches on Friday.
