THATTA: EU mission arrives in Thatta

THATTA, Sept 16: A two-member team of the election observation mission from the European Union held meetings with the officials of the election commission and also gathered information from the general public on Monday.

Mette Hilmann and Mariim Castro Freire, both long-term observers, accompanied by their interpreters, held exclusive meetings with Syed Ayaz Ali Shah Shirazi of the Shirazi group, Babu Ghulam Hussain Memon, and Dr Abdul Wahid Soomro of the PPP among others.

Later, Ghulam Hussain told this correspondent that they apprised the mission about the irregularities and violation of rules being perpetrated in the district like transfer of officials in spite of the ban, relocation of a number of polling stations from government buildings to private premises.
